Pedestrian dies after being hit by a truck in Montreal

A woman died after she was hit by a truck Wednesday afternoon in Rivière-des-Prairies–Pointe-aux-Trembles.

According to Montreal police (SPVM), they received a 911 call at 1:40 p.m., reporting a collision involving a truck and a pedestrian at the intersection of Sherbrooke East and Robert-Chevalier street.

“At the scene, officers helped a 37-year-old pedestrian who was seriously injured,” explained Julien Lévesque, SPVM spokesperson. “Due to her critical condition, the victim was brought to a Montreal-area hospital.”

The driver, a 61-year-old man, was taken in for questioning by police and could potentially face charges for impaired driving, he said.
