By News Staff

A Port of Montreal worker died on Friday after an apparent accident.

It happened just after 1:30 p.m. at the Viau Terminal, at the corner of Notre-Dame E. Street and Viau Street, involving a truck driver.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Police and emergency services were called.

The circumstances surrounding the accident are unknown.

Quebec’s workplace safety board — the Commission des normes, de l’équité, de la santé et de la sécurité du travail (CNESST) — will conduct an investigation.

A Montreal police spokesperson says the department is unable to comment on the event while the provincial agency’s investigation is active.
