The Autorité régionale de transport métropolitain (ARTM) announced there will be fare changes implemented on July 1 in the public transportation network in Montreal.

According to a press release on Tuesday, ARTM officials said that these are part of the annual indexations.

The average indexation of 3 per cent is below the inflation observed over the past year in Montreal (4.1 per cent), officials note.

“Public transit faces significant funding challenges, and despite everything, the annual fare update is responsible and aims to protect access to various services for the entire population,” said ARTM general director Benoît Gendron. “In addition, with the gradual commissioning of new REM antennas in the metropolitan network, users will benefit from more flexibility in making their trips.”

Monthly ticket passes will be increasing in all zones:

Zone A is going up from $97 to $100
Zone AB is going up from$155 to $160
Zone ABC is going up from $190 to $196
Zone ABCD is going up from $263 to $271

The prices will remain the same for one and two-pass tickets for all transportation in zone A but the 10-ticket package will increase by 75 cents to $33.25

The tickets for All Modes AB, ABC, ABCD will increase by $0.25, and this pass has not increased since October 2022.

“Special bus tickets linked to the REM will continue to be adjusted gradually,” reads the press release.

The rate for the river shuttle will increase to $6 starting in May.

Also, the reduced fare monthly passes will see an increase. Zone A will cost $60, Zone AB will cost $96, Zone ABC will cost $118 and Zone ABCD will cost $163.
