SPVM investigating if Carrefour Angrignon shooting, stabbing are related

By The Canadian Press

Montreal police say shots were fired at Carrefour Angrignon in LaSalle Friday evening.

Police were called around 9:10 p.m. about gunshots heard near the shopping centre.

SPVM officers arrived to find shell casings on the ground and two projectile impacts on a building.

“According to initial information obtained, a vehicle approached another parked vehicle before firing in its direction. The people involved then fled inside a business, before fleeing in an unknown direction,” said SPVM spokesperson Sabrina Gauthier.

There have been no arrests.

An 19-year-old man with non-life-threatening injuries showed up at the hospital shortly after, according to police.

“The circumstances surrounding this person, who was allegedly stabbed, remain unknown,” said SPVM spokesperson Caroline Chèvrefils.

“At this time, we cannot confirm that there is a link between these two events,” she explained.

The SPVM opened a separate investigation concerning that incident.

Both investigations are ongoing.
