3 killed in head-on collision in Eastern Townships

By The Canadian Press

Provincial police say three people died Saturday night in a collision on Route 108 near Bury, in the Eastern Townships.

Emergency services were called around 10.15pm after a collision involving two vehicles.

“For an unknown reason, a vehicle with two people on board traveling east would have deviated from its lane, ending up in the opposite direction, causing a head-on collision,” said Nicolas Scholtus, a Sûreté du Québec spokesperson.

A 23-year-old female driver, her 24-year-old passenger, and the 70-year-old driver of the second vehicle were transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. All three were later pronounced dead.

The SQ is investigating in collaboration with the Quebec Coroner’s Office.
