Quebecers can make their vehicle transfers online: SAAQclic

By News Staff

According to Société de l’assurance automobile du Québec (SAAQ), the month of May is when the highest number of vehicle transfers from one individual to another is observed — they saw over 82,000 in 2023 alone.

The SAAQ is therefore inviting sellers and buyers to use their SAAQclic portal to carry out their transaction online.

This portal allows people to avoid going to their service points.

In a news release on Monday, the SAAQ says that the portal is the “simplest and fastest method for transferring your vehicle to an individual, in addition to allowing you to transfer your license plate.”

Adding that customers can avoid having to travel, or choose the place and time that suits everyone best.

Now, to proceed with a transaction, the seller and the buyer must only have created their SAAQclic account — which can be made through the SAAQ website.

Since the deployment of SAAQclic and as of April 21, 2024, the SAAQ says that over 43,000 transfers of passenger vehicles from one individual to another have been made online.

This allowed over 87,000 customers to complete their transaction at the time that suits them best, they say.

The news release states that customers who absolutely must go to a service point to complete their transactions must make an appointment to avoid waiting at saaq.gouv.qc.ca/rendez-vous.
