Warm weather continues, severe thunderstorm watch for Montreal

Montrealers will experience more hot weather this week, but there’s potential for severe thunderstorms on Tuesday.

Temperatures currently sit at 28 degrees with the humidex as of 12 p.m. in the city.

Environment Canada issuing a severe thunderstorm warning, writing, “conditions are favourable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms capable of producing very strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain this afternoon. Very strong wind gusts can damage buildings, down trees and blow large vehicles off the road. Water-related activities may be unsafe due to violent and sudden gusts of wind over bodies of water.”

“Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.”

Wednesday will see a mix of sun and clouds, and it’ll feel like 37 with the humidex. A 60 per cent chance of evening showers.

Thursday and Friday, similar, with sun and clouds and some rain possible. Highs of 25 for both days.

Then sunshine and highs of 23 for Saturday and steady on Sunday with some clouds moving in.

The average high for this time of the year is 20 degrees.
