More road closures for Montreal and Laval drivers this weekend

By News Staff

The Papineau-Leblanc bridge and a portion of Highway 19 will be completely closed to traffic this weekend.

According to Transport Quebec, the closure is required to carry out asphalting on the structure and other repairs.

Highway 19 (Papineau) will close starting Friday at 10 p.m. until Monday 4:30 a.m.

There will be a complete closure southbound between Highway 440 (Jean-Noël-Lavoie) and Henri-Bourrassa Blvd., but access to Saint-Martin Blvd. will be possible.

There will be a closure heading northbound between Henri-Bourassa and de la Concorde Blvd.

To travel from Montreal to Laval, drivers are urged to take the Pie-IX Bridge and the Médéric-Martin Bridge.

Highway 13

There will be closures along Highway 13 (Chomedey) from Friday until Monday to complete paving work.

There will be a complete closure of Highway 13 going northbound, between exit 12 Samson Blvd., Notre-Dame Blvd., St-Martin Blvd., and the Louis-Bisson Bridge from Friday at 11 p.m. until Monday at 3:30 a.m.

There will be one out of four lanes available on Friday from 11 p.m. until 8 a.m., Saturday from 11 p.m. until 9 a.m. and Sunday starting at 9 p.m. until 3:30 a.m.

On Saturday, there will be three lanes available from 8 a.m. until 11 p.m.

Sunday, drivers will have access to two lanes starting at 9 a.m. until 9 p.m.

Also, the entrance ramp to the Highway 13 southbound checkpoint has been reopened.

The speed limit will be reduced in these work zones.

The construction project began at the end of 2022, will continue until the end of June. This project aims to improve safety and driving comfort on this road, according to the Transport Ministry.

The work could be postponed, extended, or cancelled due to weather conditions or operational constraints.

Detour routes will be marked with temporary signage and congestion is to be expected. Quebec’s Transport Ministry recommends that road users travelling in the area allow extra time to get to their destination.

Drivers can also consult Québec 511, to properly plan their trip.
