The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) is searching for a 32-year-old man who escaped from the minimum-security Federal Training Centre in Laval Thursday night.

According to Correctional Service of Canada (CSC), Yacine Zouaoui reportedly escaped from the detention centre located on Montée Saint-François.

His disappearance was reported around 10:45 p.m.

Zouaoui is described as being six-foot-one and weighs 186 pounds.

He has black hair, brown eyes, speaks English, has a visible teardrop tattoo under his left eye and three dots in on his left hand.

Zouaoui has been serving time for assault causing bodily injury and second-degree murder.

“The man was last seen wearing a light-coloured top, jeans, and black sneakers. He would travel on foot, but could try to request transport,” said the SQ in a press release.

SQ say they have some information that he may be in Ontario.

Anyone with information on Zouaoui’s location is asked to contact the Sûreté du Quebec at 1-800-659-4264 or call 911. The police are asking anyone who sees him not to approach.
