Man shot in NDG expected to survive

Montreal police (SPVM) are investigating after a man was shot in NDG on Wednesday – in broad daylight.

It happened just before 12 p.m. at the corner of Montclair and Fielding, near multiple daycares.

No one else was injured.

The 27-year-old was hit by gunfire in the lower body, by one projectile.

“It’s around 11:55 a.m. that a call was made to 911 concerning a shot heard,” said Sabrina Gauthier, SPVM spokesperson. “According to the first information we received, a conflict has degenerated – before that a fight occur – and after that the suspects just put out a gun and shot the victim.”

Police do not fear for the victim’s life.

“Investigator have to go to the hospital to meet him,” added Gauthier.

No arrests have been made so far.

Officers are also speaking to witnesses who were on the scene to gather more information on the event. “We’re trying to understand what happened.”
