Man, 25, victim of armed assault downtown: police

A 25-year-old man was seriously injured after an armed assault in Montreal on Saturday afternoon.

The incident occurred on Wolfe Street, near René-Lévesque Boulevard E., in the Centre-Sud district.

The victim’s life was out of danger by Saturday evening, Montreal police said.

Police arrived on scene after a 911 call around 5:30 p.m. regarding a man bleeding in the street.

Officers saw “a man on the ground with injuries to his lower body made by a sharp object,” said SPVM spokesperson Sabrina Gauthier.

The man was taken to hospital.

The suspect or suspects had already fled when police arrived, but investigators met with witnesses and viewed surveillance cameras.

The SPVM indicated that the canine unit as well as investigators analyzed the scene.
