Rainy weather ahead for the long weekend in Montreal

Montrealers should prepare for wet weather over the long weekend, after experiencing mild temperatures throughout the week.

Environment Canada issued a special weather statement predicting thunderstorms and 20 to 50 mm of rainfall in the forecast starting Saturday afternoon until Sunday night. 

“Scattered thunderstorms are expected to accompany the rain and could boost precipitation amounts beyond 50 mm in a few locations over Southern and Central Quebec,” reads the weather statement. “Significant ponding of water may occur on roads and soil.  Rain could also increase the flow and level some streams and rivers.”

On Friday, sunny skies, a high of 23 degrees and a low of 18.

Saturday will bring rain, with a high of 25 and a low of 20.

On Sunday, a 60 per cent chance of showers, a high of 23 and a low of 15.

However, Montrealers will likely be able to celebrate Canada Day with sunshine and warm temperatures. And for those moving on July 1, it could be drier.

The high will be 25, with a low of 17.

The summer weather continues Tuesday, with a high of 28, a low of 18 and a 60 per cent chance of showers in the evening.

Wednesday we’ll see 26 degrees.

Thursday, the weather agency predicts a mix of sun and clouds, with a high 30.
