The FSQ-CSQ reach agreement in principle with Quebec

By The Canadian Press

The Fédération de la santé du Québec, affiliated with the CSQ, accepted a proposed settlement with the Quebec government on June 21 as part of negotiations to renew the collective agreement.

The CSQ ratified the agreement by 89 per cent.

According to the Centrale des syndicats du Québec, this will now become an agreement in principle, which will be submitted to a vote by union members during general meetings in July.

This agreement in principle is important since the FSQ-CSQ represents nurses from the Côte-Nord region, where there is a serious shortage of health personnel, to the point where Quebec must deploy a rapid response team to help.

The FSQ is the union that represents the largest number of nurses in Quebec after the FIQ, who have still not renewed their collective agreement. The FIQ has 80,000 members.
