2 violent attacks leave victims in hospital: Montreal police

A busy night for Montreal police (SPVM) after two violent attacks.

A man is in critical condition after being attacked with a blunt object in the borough of the Plateau-Mont-Royal on Thursday.

A call coming into 911 at around 7:45 p.m. about an incident near Saint-Denis Street and Mont-Royal Ave.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found a man with serious injuries to his upper body that they say were caused by a blunt object.

The victim, 35, was transported to hospital where he has since stabilized – but his life is still considered to be in danger.

According to the SPVM, an altercation took place between the victim and another man in an alleyway, which resulted in the man being assaulted. The suspect then fled on foot.

Stabbing in Ahuntsic-Cartierville

Just before midnight, Montreal police received another 911 call about an incident in Ahuntsic-Cartierville.

A 40-year-old man was stabbed near Lajeunesse Street, close to Prieur Street East.

When police arrived on the scene, they located the victim with upper body injuries, and he was transported to hospital.

His life is not considered to be in danger.

No arrests have been made in either case so far.

The investigations are currently ongoing.
