Suspect wanted since April rams police vehicles during arrest: SPVM

By News Staff

The SPVM says a 21-year-old man wanted by police since April was apprehended in Pierrefonds Monday, but not before ramming his car into police vehicles during the arrest.

Montreal police allege he deliberately charged at police officers with a vehicle on several occasions in the last year, and he is said to have fled each time in vehicles that he had stolen.

In April, he allegedly hit a patrol officer with a reported stolen black BMW during a police intervention near Stanley and Sherbrooke streets in downtown Montreal. Police say he then drove onto a sidewalk and sped away.

His three alleged accomplices in the case, men aged 18 to 25, had previously been arrested.

The 21-year-old is charged with failure to comply with conditions, armed assault, and fleeing during a pursuit with a peace officer. He will remain in custody until the next stage of legal proceedings.

Editor’s note: Montreal police initially incorrectly indicated the suspect first struck a police officer in May. It was in April.
