Environmental activists demanding an end to all new fossil fuel projects are disrupting access to Montreal-Trudeau International Airport.
Activists from the group “Last Generation Canada” reportedly glued their hands to the ground on one of the roads leading to the airport landing stage around 10 a.m. on Wednesday.
“Three activists stuck their hands on the ground in front of the road leading to the airport, with a view to blocking that place,” said Jacob Pirro, one of the group’s spokespersons in an interview with The Canadian Press.

Pirro added that the activists are demanding the Canadian government “to endorse the Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty, which calls for a halt to the expansion of fossil fuels, a just transition for the people who work in the industry, and finally, binding laws to ensure a reduction, up to a complete shutdown, of the fossil fuel industry.”
“A concerted action by a group of individuals is causing delays in accessing the YUL airport site,” wrote Montréal-Trudeau International Airport on the X social network. “Measures are in place to remedy this situation as soon as possible. We also invite users to use the express drop-off areas located at parking lots P4 and P10.”
