Montreal under severe thunderstorm watch

Environment Canada issued a special weather warning again on Thursday for possible severe thunderstorm watch.

This comes after heavy rain and thunder struck the Montreal area late Wednesday afternoon as well.

“Heavy rainfall possible in isolated thunderstorms again today,” reads the statement. “Conditions are also favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms capable of producing strong wind gusts and large hail. Heavy rain could cause local flash flooding and may affect structures, roads and buildings already weakened by last week’s events. Please remain vigilant in the event of heavy rain. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage fewer sturdy buildings and break tree limbs. Large hail can damage property and cause injury.”
