Montreal police investigates suspicious death of 88-year-old man

Police are investigating the suspicious death of an 88-year-old man in Montreal.

Emergency services were called to a home on Joseph-Casavant Street, near Viel Street, in the Ahuntsic-Cartierville borough, shortly after midnight on Saturday.

“When paramedics arrived on the scene, they located the 88-year-old man. He was unconscious and injured in the upper body and unfortunately he was pronounced dead at the scene,” said Caroline Chèvrefils, spokesperson for the Montreal police (SPVM).

“The deceased’s spouse, who is an 86-year-old woman, was at the scene and was also injured in the upper body,” said Chèvrefils.

She was taken to hospital, and it’s said her life is not in danger. She will be questioned by SPVM investigators when her health permits.

The investigation has been entrusted to the SPVM’s major crimes section.

No arrests have been made.

An investigation is ongoing.
