Exo train lines to resume regular service starting Monday

Exo has announced that service on the train lines running on the CPKC tracks, namely lines 11 – Vaudreuil/Hudson, 12 – Saint-Jérôme and 14 – Candiac, will resume their normal schedules as of August 26.

In a press release, Exo says the “additional dedicated shuttle service will however be maintained on Monday in order to overcome any issues that may arise during the resumption of service related to the priority that will be given to passenger trains.”

Thousands of Canadian passenger train riders had to change their travel plans after a nationwide rail lockout paralyzed lines in major metropolitan areas.

Canadian National Railway Co. said Thursday evening it had ended its lockout and initiated a recovery plan after stepping in to end a bitter labour dispute.

Exo says they anticipate that there will be rail congestion on the network with many commuters returning to school.

Trains running on the CN network, lines 13 – Mont-Saint-Hilaire and 15 – Mascouche, continue to operate according to the regular schedule, the release reads.

“I would like to thank our commuter train customers for adapting quickly to the shutdown of train lines running on the CPKC tracks that began last Thursday,” said Executive Director of Operations, Marc Rousseau.

“This service interruption beyond our control reminds us of the importance of trains in the world of public transportation and we are pleased to be able to resume regular service,” he said in the release.
