Dorval business targeted by arson attack

By The Canadian Press

A business was targeted by an arson attack overnight Wednesday in the borough of Dorval, in Montreal’s West Island.

Montreal police (SPVM) received a 911 call around 3:05 a.m. about an “explosive sound” on Meloche Ave., near Guthrie Ave.

When firefighters arrived on scene, they saw flames in the business – but the fire was quickly brought under control.

“At least one incendiary object was located in front of a business located on Meloche Ave., which suggests arson,” said SPVM spokesperson Jean-Pierre Brabant.

There were no reported injuries and damages were minor.

The file has been transferred to the SPVM’s arson squad.

Investigators are expected to arrive on site Wednesday to analyze the scene.
