A six-year-old child suffered minor injuries after being hit by a small school bus while crossing the street in front of Christ-Roi elementary school in Ahuntsic-Cartierville on Thursday morning.

The incident occurred as the child was crossing Lajeunesse, near Louvain, also between two parked cars, and was hit by the small school bus.

Patrol officers were nearby and were able to intervene quickly.

The child was taken to hospital as a precautionary measure, but suffered no major injuries.

Neither driver will face charges.

The incidents come a day after the City of Montreal announced $14 million to improve road safety around 32 schools and daycares – as well as five parks.

The SPVM is organizing at least one road safety prevention operation at schools daily until Sept. 20.
