It was a busy night for the Montreal police force as two vehicles were set ablaze overnight — in different parts of the city.

Arson in Saint-Laurent

A Montreal family was evacuated from their home in Saint-Laurent early Saturday morning, after a burning vehicle spread fire to their house.

A 911 call coming in at around 3 a.m., with reports of a burning vehicle on Badeaux Street, near Bertrand Street.

Emergency services were called to scene, and were able get the fire under control.

The house suffered major damage, and the vehicle was completely destroyed.

A canister with flammable liquid was located and police say at least two suspects were seen leaving the scene.

No injuries were reported, an investigation is ongoing.

Vehicle set on fire in Villeray

Montreal police (SPVM) are investigating a suspected arson attack in the Villeray-Saint-Michel-Parc Extension borough.

Around 2 a.m. Saturday, firefighters and police were called to scene after reports of a vehicle on fire on Chabot Street, near Everett Street.

Crews quickly tamed the blaze and even though no one was injured, the vehicle was completely damaged.

Police say one suspect allegedly sprayed the vehicle with a flammable liquid, and set the car on fire before fleeing the scene on foot.

The fire is considered suspicious and the SPVM’s arson unit is now investigating.

Once teams gather enough information, they will be able to determine if the incidents were related or not.
