Montreal police (SPVM) arrested a teenager in connection to an arson attack that occurred at a business on Oct. 6 in Saint-Leonard.
The SPVM arson unit alongside station 42 officers (in Saint-Leonard) arrested a 15-year-old suspect in a LaSalle residence – just a few hours after the incident.
The suspect appeared in Quebec youth court on Monday to face charges of arson, possession of incendiary materials, breaking and entering with criminal intent, and possession and use of explosives.
Police received a 911 call on Oct. 6 around 3:35 a.m., about a fire at Rockaberry on Jean-Talon Street, near Langelier Blvd.
Some windows were broken and an incendiary object was found inside the business. Damage to the building was considered minor as the sprinklers went off and extinguished the blaze even before firefighters got there.
There were no reported injuries.
The same establishment was previously targeted by an arson attack on Sept. 20 around 5:10 a.m., but the investigation into that incident is still ongoing.
Anyone with information on either case is asked to contact 911, their local police station, or Info-Crime Montréal anonymously and confidentially at 514-393-1133 or through their online reporting form.
