Ruba Ghazal to become female co-spokesperson for Québec solidaire

By Quentin Dufranne, The Canadian Press

Gabriel Nadeau-Dubois announced on Tuesday evening that Québec Solidaire (QS) MNA Ruba Ghazal will become the female co-spokesperson for the party in November.

“On Nov. 16, we will experience a historic moment,” wrote Nadeau-Dubois on social media. “For the first time in our history, a ‘child of Bill 101’ will be at the head of a political party in the National Assembly. That fills me with hope.”

Starting next month, the Mercier MNA and Nadeau-Dubois will lead QS together.

“It’s official: Ruba is the only candidate to become the female spokesperson for Québec solidaire,” added Nadeau-Dubois. “It may take some of the excitement out of our November [QS] congress, but it’s a great mark of confidence for her.”

She will succeed Émilise Lessard-Therrien, who had taken over after Manon Massé stepped down.
