Some free parking restored at Claude-Robillard Sports Complex

The City of Montreal is alleviating some of the paid parking pressures at the Claude-Robillard Sports Complex in Ahuntsic.

On Oct. 21, borough Mayor Emilie Thuillier posted on Facebook that facility users will have around 200 free parking spaces to use for two hours, while some will be free for 15 minutes.

“We will of course discuss these adjustments with the groups that frequent the sports centre in order to hear their concerns and gather their comments and to see if other measures can be evaluated,” wrote Thuillier. “We are listening, we are proactive, and we are finding solutions.”

The remaining parking spots will cost $2.50 per hour or $11 per day.

These new prices were announced in September, and Ensemble Montréal, alongside several sports associations and clubs were quick to criticize the new measures.

Most recently, the Plante administration rejected a motion by the Official Opposition on Oct. 22 to restore free parking to at Claude-Robillard.

“The administration has finally decided to allow free parking for 120 minutes for 200 of the 400 parking spaces at Claude-Robillard Sports Complex,” said Ensemble Montréal in a statement. “However, this is insufficient in the eyes of many athletes, referees, sports associations, and the Official Opposition at Montreal City Hall. The motion also requested that the City of Montreal withdraw the management at the Claude-Robillard municipal parking lot from the Agence de mobilité durable de Montréal, and that the City increases the number of drop-offs at the Claude-Robillard municipal parking lot.”
