Quebec physicians call for immediate suspension of expansion of private health sector

The College of Physicians of Quebec (CMQ) is demanding that the expansion of the private health sector be suspended immediately.

This request is one of the six guiding principles that the CMQ adopted during a regular meeting of its board of directors held on Oct. 25. These principles aim to rethink the place of the private sector in health to ensure the sustainability of a universal and accessible network.

During this session, the CMQ highlighted that in recent years, the provision of privately financed health services has experienced accelerated development, both in terms of health services required and not required by the state. He recalls that “evidence shows that this does not improve access to health care or reduce system costs.”
