Suspicious vehicle fire in Montreal North

Montreal police (SPVM) are investigating after a car was found engulfed in flames overnight in Montreal North.

Police received calls to 911 around 2:10 a.m. about a burning vehicle that was parked on Cobourg Ave., near Monselet Street.

When officers arrived on the scene, firefighters from the Montreal Fire Department (SIM) had the fire under control.

“An incendiary object was not found, but the vehicle is a total loss,” said SPVM spokesperson Caroline Chèvrefils.

The cause of the fire remains unknown, but police say its suspicious.

The file has been transferred to the Montreal police arson squad.

The vehicle was towed for examination, and no arrests have been made.
