Police operation to combat sexual exploitation of children, 17 arrests made in Quebec

The Sûreté du Québec (SQ), along with other police forces launched a province-wide operation into the sexual exploitation of children from Nov. 4 to 7.

The large-scale operation mobilized over 200 police officers and civilians. In total, 20 searches were carried out.

Seventeen men, between the ages of 38 and 80, were arrested and appeared in court on charges related to possession, distribution and accessing child pornography.

Computer equipment was also seized and will be analyzed.

The Montreal police (SPVM), Longueuil police (SPAL), and Gatineau police helped carry out the operation.
