Luxury flower show blooming in downtown Montreal: Fleurs de Villes Noël

Roses are red, violets are blue.

Have you seen this expo? You just have to.

Our city is hosting the Fleurs de Villes Noël at the Centre Eaton de Montréal, featuring enchanting floral displays.

The free, 10 day festive celebration is spearheaded by the world-renowned Fleurs de Villes — where masterpieces are crafted by talented local floral artists, making every show unique.

“The exposition is beautiful because of all the flowers,” said Cynthia Grow, Florist from Aarhus Atelier & Floral who is participating in the show. “It’s one of the most exciting projects I’ve ever been a part of.”

“They really give you all of your creative freedom.”

The flower show’s theme while it’s in our city is: Noël – Holiday.

Founded in 2016, Fleurs de Villes’ luxury flower shows travel the world but bloomed right out of Vancouver.

Invitations are sent out to local florists, then a selection is made on who can participate in each edition.

Mannequins are then dressed in fresh arraignments — and yes, it’s all real flowers.

“The intention behind our shows is to spread joy through flowers,” said Emily Dynes, Project Manager, Fleurs de Villes. “No matter who you are, where you live, people love flowers.”

“They really put a smile on your face and brighten your day.”

“To see all the people passing by,” said Grow. “It’s just been really, really a fun experience.”

Her passion for beautiful arraignments — rooted from the love her late grandmothers had for flowers.

“I get to share that with them everyday doing flowers,” said Grow. “I get to experience the beauty of flowers.”

The “Snow Queen” Grow created — took over 30 hours to make.

“Lots and lots of hot glue,” she explained. “Hot glue, a lot of floral foam.”

“We do an award ceremony each show,” said Dynes. “Where we present florists with awards that are judged by a selection of local judges.”

And you can be a judge too.

Everyone is welcomed to the free display and can vote for their favourite for a chance to win a $1,000 gift card to the shopping mall.

A flower market and ateliers are also set to take place on Saturday but Montrealers can “stop and smell the roses” until Nov. 17.

“I love the beauty in anything,” said Grow. “I think flowers add the pretty to anything.”
