New report shows where Quebecers plan to travel next year: CAA-Quebec

CAA-Quebec released their results for their annual survey about their members’ travel intentions for 2025 on Wednesday.

According to the survey, 44 per cent of respondents plan on leaving Quebec for a personal vacation next year.

The U.S. remains as the number one hotspot for travellers at 39 per cent, followed by Mexico and the Caribbean at 36 per cent, Europe was 35 per cent and Canada (excluding Quebec) sat at 25 per cent.

Majority of the respondents (61 per cent) said they prefer to be a tourist that considered the economic, social, and environmental impacts.

“Not surprisingly, Quebecers are curious and eager to experience new things. We also know that safety, climate and social concerns, technological changes and economic demands are significant challenges for travellers,” said Travel Services Vice President Philippe Blain. “That’s why CAA-Quebec is going above and beyond to understand their needs and respond to them. Our experts and counsellors are committed to delivering top-notch services.”

The data showed that 34 per cent of people don’t travel outside of Quebec due to budgetary reason, and 59 per cent felt that inflation has impacted their travel budgets.

According to CAA-Quebec, the average budget per traveller has increased by $324 from 2023 – reaching $2,646 for the average trip.

“Many CAA-Quebec members still want to benefit from the sound advice of a travel counsellor, especially when planning a cruise or a trip to Mexico or the Caribbean. In fact, 34 per cent of members turn to a travel agency to leverage the agency’s expertise on various destinations,” reads a press release.

Lastly, most CAA-Quebec members who plan on travelling claim to already have health insurance, but only 38 per cent inform themselves about their travel insurance benefits before they leave.
