Projet Montréal: New party leader to be chosen March 15
Projet Montréal revealed the rules that will govern the party’s leadership race after Montreal Mayor Valérie Plante announced she would not seek a third term on Oct. 23.
The election to select a new leader for the party will take place on March 15, 2025.
Nominations will open on Dec. 9 and close on Jan. 31, 2025.

To be eligible, candidates will need to collect the signatures from 200 members, from at least seven boroughs, with a minimum of 10 signatures in each borough.
Also, candidates must donate a personal $1,000 contribution to the party and need a total of $7,500 in donations to the party when the campaign is officially launched.
Those wishing to run for in the race have until Feb. 13 to become Projet Montréal members.
The official election race will start on Feb. 3.

Patrick Cigana will chair Projet Montréal’s electoral committee and Véronique DeSève will act as vice-president.
