A man is stabbed near a camp in the Saint-Henri district of Montreal

A man was stabbed near a camp with around ten tents in the Saint-Henri district of Montreal.

Several calls to 911 were made shortly after the attack which occurred late Friday evening, around 11:40 p.m., near St-Rémi and Cazelais streets.

The man, aged 44, was conscious when help arrived, but “seriously injured in the upper body,” said officer Véronique Dubuc, spokesperson for the Montreal City Police Service (SPVM).Medical authorities confirmed that his life was out of danger around 1:30 a.m. Saturday morning.

“The police checked the surroundings and located the scene of the attack, a camp of around ten tents located on a vacant lot near the intersection,” underlined Officer Dubuc, while specifying that a perimeter was erected around the crime scene.

 Everything indicates that the victim knows her attacker.

“The two men allegedly had a conflict during which the suspect took a sharp object and injured the victim, before fleeing on a bicycle,” said the SPVM spokesperson.

Investigators, forensic identification technicians and dog handlers were called to the scene to analyze the scene.

The SPVM investigation continues.
