Quebec daycare workers’ strike enters 4th week

By Lia Lévesque, The Canadian Press

The 9,000 child-care providers of the CSQ-affiliated Fédération des intervenantes en petite enfance du Québec (FIPEQ) began their fourth week of strike action on Monday morning.

BACKGROUND: Daycare workers across Quebec continue to strike in hope of better contract

As a result, every day of the week, affected home daycare centres will open two hours later than usual.

The strike mandate also provides for two half-days of strike action; these will take the form of a rotating strike by region, starting next week.

The main issue in dispute is pay. Negotiations with the Quebec government are still ongoing
