Preparatory work to expand Maisonneuve-Rosemont Hospital postponed until mid-2025

The preparatory work to expand the Maisonneuve-Rosemont Hospital, initially set to begin this fall, has been postponed until 2025.
“The regular approval process is following its course so that the construction of the Maisonneuve-Rosemont Hospital parking lot can begin in the coming months,” the office of Quebec Health Minister Christian Dubé told CityNews in a statement.
“This is a major infrastructure project, we are doing things in order to offer a modern hospital that meets the needs of the population and staff.”
According to Radio-Canada, the work has been pushed by at least nine months.
It a statement to CityNews, the CIUSSS de l’Est-de-l’Île-de-Montréal that reconstruction work will begin in 2025. “Our teams are ready and eager to get to work.”
Dubé had announced the major investment to expand and modernize the Maisonneuve-Rosemont Hospital in Montreal’s East End back in September 2023.
There, he noted that he hoped construction would begin by 2024.
The expansion is set to increase the hospital capacity from some 400 beds to almost 750 hospital beds. Surgery units will also see upgrades.
The priority will be maintaining health services during the work, and it will cost several billions over 10 years.
