Luc Rabouin plans to run for Projet Montréal leadership: report

Plateau-Mont-Royal borough mayor Luc Rabouin is expected to run for the leadership of Projet Montréal – to succeed Mayor Valérie Plante, according to La Presse.

He’s said to be making an official announcement later this week.

Before becoming borough mayor in 2019, Rabouin worked as a manager at Desjardins for nearly nine years.

According to LaPresse, two other candidates will may also be entering the race: Côte-des-Neiges–Notre-Dame-de-Grâce borough mayor Gracia Kasoki Katahwa and Villeray–Saint-Michel–Parc-Extension borough mayor Laurence Lavigne Lalonde.

The application period is open until Jan. 31 and the Projet Montréal leadership race will officially begin on Feb. 3.

The election period will last nearly a month and a half, with election day taking place on March 15.

The deadline to join the party to vote as a member is on Feb.13.

The Official Opposition, Ensemble Montréal, postponed its race to give people more time to come forward.
