Ambulance workers launch indefinite strike in several Quebec regions

Paramedics represented by 14 different unions affiliated with the Fraternité des travailleurs et travailleuses du préhospitalier du Québec launched an indefinite strike on Wednesday.

However, essential services will be maintained and offered during the walkout.

The Administrative Labour Tribunal received official notices this morning at 12:01 a.m.

“In anticipation of this strike, the court ruled on the services provided for in the agreements reached between the parties and declared that they are sufficient to ensure that the health or safety of the population is not endangered by the strike,” reads a press release.

The companies affected by the strike are located in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, Bas-Saint-Laurent, Gaspésie, Montérégie, Estrie, Lanaudière and Chaudière-Appalaches:

-Acton Vale Ambulances

-Granby Ambulances

-Saint-Hyacinthe Ambulances

-Senneterre Ambulances Inc.

-Dessercom Inc. (sectors: Bedford and Val-d’Or )

-HRH Prehospital Services Inc. (sectors: Repentigny and Sorel-Tracy )

-Baie-des-Chaleurs Emergency Service Ltd.

-Paraxion Pre-hospital Services Inc. (sectors: Amqui / Sayabec , Lotbinière, Pointe-à-la-Croix/Saint-Alexis and Saint-Jean-Port-Joli )
