Search for suspect involved in scam targeting seniors in Montreal

The Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) is asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect who allegedly committed “false representatives” fraud last November in Verdun.

The suspect is alleged to be linked to a network of fraudsters.

The scam involves the suspect contacting the victim by phone pretending to be the police and claiming there has been a fraudulent transaction with their bank or credit card.

The fraudster then asks the victim to place their cards in an envelope and says the police will come to collect their cards. The suspect then pretends to be a fake representative in charge of retrieving the cards.

The SPVM says the suspect is described as a woman in her 20s who speaks French. She is approximately five-foot-three and has long dark brown hair. She has a tattoo on the top of her right hand that covers her index and middle fingers.

Police shared images of the suspect wearing a black long-sleeved hybrid jacket with a black logo on her left arm similar to that of the Rudsak brand, black pants and beige shoes with fur in the Ugg style, as well as a black shoulder bag and a blue medical mask.
