Ready to warm up your holiday spirits?

“I like creating experiences—experiences that make you feel something—and we thought it would be fun to create a Christmas environment at a different level,” said Magda Slezak, founder of Le Petit Dep.

“I think it’s a feel-good place. You walk in here and it just feels good. It’s a nice place to get together with friends, family, and the kids. People feel very happy once they’re inside here.”

“We have Christmas-themed drinks and cocktails, like the Grinch, the First Snowfall, and we have a hot chocolate that’s been a hit, which we call the Chocomauve. It’s a chocolate-covered rim with crushed candy canes and raspberry puree mixed with hot chocolate, topped with artisanal pink marshmallows. So that’s been a huge hit,” explained Slezak.

There is also a Quebec themed food menu.

“We have four types of different pizzas that are Quebec-inspired. One is the Poutine Pizza, another is the Smoked Meat Pizza, we have one with corn, and another with pear and burrata,” said Slezak.

This is their first year doing the Christmas tavern. Slezak said since the shop was transformed, the response has been better than expected.

“It’s been surprising, actually. We thought for sure we would be busy, but we didn’t realize to what point,” she said.

The tavern is filled with customers, hoping to enjoy some holiday magic.

“I’ve come here with some very dear friends, my Christmas elves, who wanted to just enjoy the spirit of the holidays, and what better place to be than here,” said a customer.

“Why wouldn’t you want to come here? I’m here to enjoy the Christmas magic.”

Montrealers can indulge in the experience until Jan. 13. Slezak suggests coming before noon to avoid the lineups.
