SPVM searching for 6 suspects from last month’s violent anti-NATO protest

Montreal police are looking to identify six suspects who allegedly committed mischief during last month’s violent anti-NATO demonstration.

The Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) has shared six images of suspects police are hoping to find in connection with the Nov. 22 protest.

The six suspects being sought were all wearing dark clothing, and their faces were covered by masks, scarves or ski goggles.

That evening, windows were smashed and cars were burned in downtown Montreal near the Palais des congrès, where NATO delegates were meeting.

Police say six individuals were responsible for smashing windows of the Palais des congrès with concrete blocks, hammers, as well as with their feet and fists.

Protesters were opposing what they called NATO’s “complicity” in the Israel-Hamas war that’s killed thousands of Palestinians.

In the days following the protest, Montreal’s police chief said he believed those responsible for the violence were part of an “extreme left group” that had nothing to do with protesters who attended the demonstration.

Montreal police arrested three people in the immediate aftermath, and vowed more arrests were on the way.

Anyone with information is asked to call 911 or their local police station.
