Apartment building fire leaves residents on the street in St-Hubert

A fire broke out in an apartment building overnight on Montreal’s South Shore.

Emergency services received a call around 3 a.m. Friday about a fire in Saint-Hubert.

The incident started in a basement apartment, before spreading to other units above.

Longueuil firefighters were able to get the blaze under control.

STL buses were sent to the scene to allow the affected residents a place to warm up, and a nearby restaurant opened early to provide hot beverages.

There were no reported injuries, and the cause of the fire remains unknown.
