As of Monday, Jan. 6, 2025, the operating hours at 10 border crossings in Quebec will be adjusted.
The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) will adjust the hours at these crossings as part of a nationwide change aimed at enhancing security for both Canada and the United States.
These changes were first announced by the CBSA in November.
According to the agency, it will now be able to deploy its officers to busier points and process travelers and goods more efficiently.
The United States will also adjust its service hours at various points of entry.
The CBSA said these adjustments are based on an analysis of operational needs, peak periods, and services required at each port.
The changes are designed to minimize the impact on border communities, as most affected crossings process fewer than two vehicles or trucks per hour during the hours no longer in operation.
Travellers will also have alternative crossing options within a 100-km radius.
The new hours for the 10 Quebec border crossings are as follows:
- Chartierville: 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week.
- Clarenceville: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. seven days a week.
- Frelighsburg: 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week.
- Herdman: 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. seven days a week.
- Hereford Road: 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week.
- Highwater: 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week.
- Lacolle Route 221: 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week.
- Lacolle Route 223: 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week.
- Noyan: 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week.
- Trout River: 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. seven days a week.
