Montreal woman dies after being hit by semi-trailer truck in Lachine

By The Canadian Press

A 40-year-old woman died after being hit by a semi-trailer truck in the Lachine borough of Montreal on Tuesday evening.

This is the first pedestrian death of the year on the Montreal territory.

The victim was lying on the ground and unconscious when emergency services arrived on the scene around 6 p.m. at the intersection of 1st Avenue and Montreal-Toronto Boulevard.

She was then taken to a hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

SPVM spokesperson Marianne Allaire Morin told The Canadian Press that the driver of the semi-trailer has not yet been located.

She also explained that, at this time, there is no evidence to indicate whether or not it was a hit-and-run.

“At the moment we do not have the information (to know) if the driver realized an accident or not with the snowy conditions,” she explained.
