Man in his 50s dies of his injuries after armed assault in Longueuil

A man in his 50s was killed Wednesday night in Longueuil when a conflict escalated into an armed assault.

The suspect, a man in his sixties, was arrested.

According to the Longueuil police (SPAL), the incident happened around 8 p.m. in a building located on Saint-Gérald Street, in the LeMoyne sector.

It’s not yet known why the argument between the two individuals escalated to the point where the man in his sixties seriously injured the man in his fifties.

The victim was transported to hospital. The man was initially in critical condition, but he died overnight Thursday.

The man in his 60s was arrested on scene.

Longueuil police set up a security perimeter to investigate.

Saint-Gérald street was still closed to traffic Thursday morning.
