A woman was stabbed on Monday afternoon in the Plateau Mont-Royal borough and taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Montreal Police (SPVM) say a 29-year-old man was arrested not far from the scene – possibly connected to the case – and is being met by investigators.
According to initial information, SPVM spokesperson, Jean-Pierre Brabant explains that a 911 call came in around 3:10 p.m. regarding the incident near Saint-Urbain Street and Marie-Anne Street.
The victim was found outside, but the scene of the crime police say was in a nearby apartment.
“We don’t have much information on the victim, we don’t have her age, but what I can say for the moment is we fear for her life,” explains Brabant.
The woman was located with injuries caused by an edged weapon to the upper body, according to Brabant.
Witnesses provided a description of the suspect that was scene leaving the scene – and the man was quickly located by police.
Saint-Urbain Street is closed southbound towards Mont-Royal Ave, as investigators continue to comb the area.
