Pedestrian hit by truck in Montreal

A 67-year-old pedestrian is in critical condition after being hit by a cube truck in the Ahuntsic-Cartierville borough of Montreal on Wednesday evening.
The accident occurred around 6:30 p.m. at the intersection of De Salaberry and Grenet streets.
“According to initial information obtained from various witnesses, the cube truck was traveling north on Grenet Street and, at De Salaberry Street, it made a turn toward the west. At the same time, the pedestrian was crossing De Salaberry Street heading north. That’s when there was a collision. The 67-year-old man was transported in critical condition to a hospital,” said Jean-Pierre Brabant, spokesperson for the Montreal Police (SPVM).
The driver of the vehicle, a 30-year-old man, was not injured.
A security perimeter has been put in place in this area, which is closed to traffic.
Collision investigators will analyze the scene to better understand the circumstances that led to this accident.
