Vehicle set on fire in Kirkland, Montreal police arson squad investigating

The Montreal police (SPVM) arson squad is investigating an overnight vehicle fire in Kirkland, on the West Island.

The incident occurred at 1:50 a.m. on Monday, behind a business along the Transcanadienne service road, near Houde Street.

Jean-Pierre Brabant, spokesperson for Montreal police, confirmed that the vehicle is considered a total loss, and that the fire department discovered incendiary elements at the scene.

Brabant also noted that witnesses reported seeing at least one suspect fleeing the area on foot before the fire broke out.

No injuries have been reported, and no arrests have been made so far.

The vehicle is being towed for further inspection.
