Canada and Quebec will each invest $32 million over three years to acquire equipment to fight forest fires.
Canada’s Environment Minister, Steven Guilbeault, made the announcement Wednesday morning at the Ouranos Symposium in Montreal.
The joint investment of $64 million will go toward strengthening the province’s capacity to prepare for and respond to wildfires.
It could be used for the acquisition of new, refurbished or used forest firefighting equipment, like vehicles or aircraft, and also for the hiring of new forest firefighters and for training and development services.
