Montreal Police (SPVM) are investigating after shots were fired at a residential building in the Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve borough late Thursday evening.
The SPVM responded to reports of gunshots on Pierre-Magnan Street, near Louis-Dupire Ave., around 10 p.m.
Upon arrival, officers discovered several bullet holes on the exterior of a triplex and shell casings on the ground.
No injuries were reported.
Witnesses told police they saw two suspects fleeing the scene in a vehicle immediately after the shooting, according to SPVM spokesperson Véronique Dubuc.
A security perimeter was set up around the area while police, along with a dog handler, searched for additional evidence. Investigators and forensic identification technicians were also called to the scene to examine the site and piece together the circumstances surrounding the incident.
This marks the first time such an event has occurred in the area, authorities confirmed.
The investigation is ongoing.
