Southern Quebec will experience a brief mild spell Friday, with temperatures rising slightly to offer some relief.
In Montreal, cloudy skies and a high of -3°C will provide a more comfortable – but still chilly, day.
Despite the brief respite, the cold will continue to grip northern and eastern parts of the province, especially in Saguenay, where an extreme cold warning is in effect due to a dangerous wind chill of -38°C.
While the mild conditions in southern Quebec will be short-lived, the mercury will dip once again as the weekend approaches. Saturday will bring sunny skies with highs of -13°C and a wind chill that could make it feel as cold as -27°C in the morning for Montrealers.
The forecast calls for more snow and cold temperatures on Sunday and a high of -12°C.
Monday we may see snow or it could be rain as temperatures rise to plus 3°C.
Sunny skies and -6°C on Tuesday, with more snow for Wednesday and Thursday.
