Montreal faces additional snowfall this week as cleanup continues

    As of Sunday, 49 percent of the snow has been cleared in Montreal. Garbage pickup is set to resume on Monday and the city asks residents to place trash on the cleared side of the street.

    As of Sunday, about 48 per cent of the snow has been cleared in Montreal since the two historic back-to-back major winter storms that hit the city.

    Each part of the city is making progress in snow clearing, as of Sunday: L’Île-Bizard-Sainte-Geneviève, has 57 per cent of their snow removal completed; Pierrefonds-Roxboro at 64 per cent; Lachine at 63 per cent; Saint-Leonard at 54 per cent and Anjou at 59 per cent.

    Ahuntsic-Cartierville is at 38 per cent, Côte-des-Neiges-NDG is at 46 per cent, and Ville-Marie at 41 per cent.

    More snow is in the forecast for Montreal this week.  Today, temperatures will reach a high of 0°C, with wind chills making it feel like -7°C.

    Tomorrow, expect a mix of sun and cloud with a high of 3°C and a chance of flurries or rain in the afternoon.

    Snow is likely to arrive later in the week, with a high of -1°C on Thursday and a low of -10°C overnight. Snow is also expected on Friday and Saturday, with highs around -2°C and +1°C.

    The city reminds citizens to respect parking bans, as towing greatly slows down the teams’ snow clearing progress. People are also urged to clear sidewalks of bulky items, trash bags and bins to help speed up operations.

    Garbage pickup, is set to resume next Monday after it was suspended on Feb. 17 to help with snow clearing.
